BORNEO OVERLAND TRIP - EXPEDITIONS AND ADVENTURE TRAVEL IN BORNEO

ITINERARY:
Day 01: ARRIVAL IN BALIKPAPAN – LOA JANAN – MAHAKAM RIVER
Meet at airport and directly transfer to Loa Janan for boarding the houseboat start the exciting adventure of Mahakam River. Lunch, dinner and overnight on houseboat. (L, D)

Day 02: MUARA MUNTAI – TANJUNG ISUY – MANCONG
Arrive at Muara Muntai and sightseeing villager activities from the long wooden bridge. Next, cruise Jempang Lake to Tanjung isuy for sighting a longhouse and villager activities and then continue our trip to Mancong by motorized canoe for exploring an impressive longhouse called Lamin Mancong with traditional dance performance of Dayak Benuaq in front of the longhouse. Afterwards, return to houseboat for cruising through Ohong River where a lot of proboscis monkeys hang on trees at riverside. (B, L, D)

Day 03: LEKAQ KIDAU – TENGGARONG – BALIKPAPAN
After breakfast, visiting the Dayak Kenyah village to see remains long ear women with tattoos on their skin then return to houseboat for cruising downward the Mahakam River. A stop will be made at Tenggarong for exploring the King Collection on the Museum of Mulawarman and Royal Cemetery of Kutai Kartanegara kingdom. Afterwards, return to houseboat for sailing downward to Loa Janan and directly transfer by private AC land transportation to Balikpapan for overnight on hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 04: BALIKPAPAN – MUARA KOMAM
After breakfast, we will drive to Muara Komam with some stop over on interesting spots we will meet en route, overnight on simple inn. (B, L, D)

Day 05: MUARA KOMAM – BARARAWA – LOKSADO
Proceed to visit a beautiful huge cave and then continue our trip to Bararawa swamp village for exploring water buffaloes and villagers’ daily lives, a stop will be made at Upau village to watch thorny tree climbing and dance attraction of Dayak Upau. Next, we will travel to Nagara village for sighting traditional machete making, metal ware, and pottery home industries. Afterwards, transfer to Loksado for overnight on lodge. (B, L, D)

Day 06: RAINFOREST TREKKING
Proceed to trek in Meratus Mountain crossing virgin forest, waterfalls, and traditional farms. Next, return to the lodge through different trail passing longhouses, hanging bridges, rivers, and secondary forest. (B, L, D)

Day 07: LOKSADO – BAMBOO RAFTING –TRADITIONAL DIAMOND DIGGING - RESORT
Breakfast at lodge then take adventure trip of bamboo rafting at Amandit river crossing tropical rainforest on riverside, our coach will wait on the downstream for transferring to Cempaka to explore villagers take materials out of the ground to find raw diamond on a traditional diamond digging. Next, proceed to a resort at Tambela village for accommodation. (B, L, D)

Day 08: RESORT – RIAM KANAN – BANJARMASIN
Proceed to Riam kanan small port for boating in Riam kanan lake to explore beautiful mountainous landscape, villagers’ fishing ponds, boat making, and kinds of birds fly over the area. Next, driving to Banjarmasin for taking an afternoon canal sightseeing. Afterwards, transfer to hotel for overnight. (B, L, D)

Day 09: FLOATING MARKET – SAMPIT
We will leave to floating market for exploring people trading boat to boat and return to hotel while sighting citizen activities on riverside. Next, we will drive to Sampit with some stop over on interesting spots we will meet en route. Free at your own leisure and overnight on hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 10: SAMPIT – PANGKALAN BUN – KUMAI
Transfer to Kumai sub-district to start boating safari on Sekonyer River while sightseeing remarkable view of the river where some animals showing up to welcome visitors on their kingdom. The boat is a traditional wooden river boat about 6m by 2m with a roof which forms the upper deck where you can view the rainforest as it glides by. Overnight and dining on the boat, with facilities; thin mattress, pillow, fine meals, bottled "mineral" water, mosquito net, kitchen, simple toilet available on boat besides the familiar - helpful guides and boatmen. Day 11: PONDOK TANGGUY-CAMP LEAKEY
After breakfast, we will cruise up the river for about 2 hours to reach Camp Leakey where the older orangutans are reintroduced into the rainforest. A stop will be made at Pondok Tanguy, the rehabilitation center for the new ex-captive orangutans. At Camp Leakey you will have opportunity to trek into the rainforest with your expert guide and the forest rangers to appreciate the flora as well as perhaps sighting wild orangutans, gibbons, macaques, and birds. Lunch will be provided on boat. Afternoon, we will visit the feeding station to see rehabilitate orangutans are given additional foods. We will then sail back down the river to overnight on the boat. Day12: TANJUNG PUTTING NATIONAL PARK – PANGKALAN BUN - DEPARTURE
Transfer to Pangkalan Bun airport for next destination. (you can fly to this cities: West Kalimantan then by overland to Malaysia border - Kuching Serawak, or Java Island and or Jakarta). (B)
